Al Roker was eaten alive on Thursday morning after he announced the engagement of his Weather Channel co-worker, Kait Parker — after several reports called it an “oops” moment, claiming he embarrassed and surprised her by spilling the news on live TV.
But Dish Nation caught up with the Today show weatherman at the Autism Speaks Los Angeles Celebrity Chef Gala in Santa Monica, Calif., on Thursday night where he didn’t just deny that the announcement was an accident, but said Kait even sent him an email thanking him.
“First of all, it wasn’t an accident. The New York Post, Page Six, made much ado about nothing. The woman posted it on her Facebook page! She announced it at work. They got it all wrong,” he exclusively told Dish.
“So it wasn’t a big deal. Look, they want to make a big deal out of something that isn’t, that’s their prerogative, good for them. But, no. It was not a gaffe. It wasn’t anything like that.
“She wasn’t ticked off. If they’d like to see the email she sent me thanking me for it, I’d be happy to show you.”
So there you have it, folks. Al knew what he was doing all along (of course he did, he’s a live TV veteran!) and there’s no bad blood between him and Kait.
