Hold on to your Netflix queues, a documentary about Michelle Obama’s life post-white house is coming your way!
On May 6th, the former First Lady and Grammy-award winner will be showing us a behind-the-scenes look at her journey post Barack Obama’s presidency, and life on the road for her Becoming book tour. The trailer shows Michelle meeting with a young group of girls to discuss her transition to a new normal after living in The White House.
In a statement, Michelle said her 34-city book tour “drove home the idea that what we share in common is deep and real and can’t be messed with,” People reports.
“We processed the past and imagined a better future. In talking about the idea of ‘becoming,’ many of us dared to say our hopes out loud,” Michelle stated. “I treasure the memories and that sense of connection now more than ever, as we struggle together to weather this pandemic, as we care for our loved ones, tend to our communities, and try to keep up with work and school while coping with huge amounts of loss, confusion, and uncertainty.”
The Becoming documentary will be released from Higher Ground Productions—the production company of Barack and Michelle Obama’s multi-film deal with Netflix. Their production company released their first film early this year, “American Factory,” which won an Academy Award for best documentary.
