She might be the most successful Colombian singer of all time and definitely a favorite of us here at Dish Nation. You probably already know the latest gossip about her (She’s pregnant again!) but what can we learn about her from her awesome lyrics? Here are 9 of our favorites:

1 – Probably the most obvious and important issue on her mind:

She has small breasts and she cannot lie! Actually, she loves talking about them! From “Whenever, Wherever” (2001):

Lucky that my breasts are small and humble
So you don’t confuse them with mountains

2- Not only does she believe her breasts are small… she might have a height complex too. She’s only 5′ 2″ but so what?  We promise you Shaki, the rest of the world DON’T care! From “Don’t Bother” (2005), here’s how she feels about “the other woman” in the song:

She’s almost six feet tall
She must think I’m a flea
I’m really a cat you see
And it’s not my last life at all

3- Unlike most of humanity (or at least Men), she is REALLY NOT a fan of tall women with big breasts! From “Objection” (2001):

Next to her cheap silicon I look minimal
That’s why in front of your eyes I’m invisible
But you gotta know small things also count
You better put your feet on the ground
And see what it’s about

4- She believes in karma… or at least that hot men happen to good people… clearly it worked for her… (though this song was written while she was with her ex, it certainly applies to her baby daddy as well). From “Underneath Your Clothes” (2001):

Underneath your clothes
There’s an endless story
There’s the man I chose
There’s my territory
And all the things I deserve
For being such a good girl
For being such a, heyyy

Wait… Such a what? Hmm maybe she wasn’t talking about being a good person after all.

5- Who needs breasts when you got a truth-telling pelvis? Shakira sure loves her hips… From “Hips Don’t Lie” (2005):

And I’m on tonight
You know my hips don’t lie
And I’m starting to feel it’s right
All the attraction, the tension
Don’t you see baby, this is perfection

We kid of course. Shakira explained these lyrics to Women’s Health magazine. She said: “The reason why I named that song that is because, when I’m in the studio, I know when a song is ready and it can be taken out of the oven, and it’s exactly when my hips start moving.”

6- When it comes to lovers, she keeps making the same mistakes over and over again.. We’d make it too if the lover in question is Rihanna! From “Can’t Remember To Forget” (2014):

I go back again
Fall off the train
Land in his bed, repeat yesterday’s mistakes
What I’m trying to say
Is not to forget
You see only the good
Selective memory

OK, you got us. She is not really talking about Rihanna… unfortunately. She’s talking about falling for bad boys, like she did on “Did It Again” (2009):

When it comes to men, it’s known
That I end up choosing wrong
‘Cause I always trip and fall
The same old rock and repeat and go back
How blind a girl can be
To miss you hiding your ring

7- I don’t think this one needs any editorial… She’s telling it like it is. From “Loca” (2010):

And I’m crazy, but you like it (loca, loca, loca)
You like that it ain’t easy (loca, loca, loca)
I’m crazy but you like it (loca, loca, loca)
And I’m crazy but you like it

8- That’s probably why she never  worked in an office. Though she’s right about some offices… at Dish Nation, nothing gets as much action as the coffee machine! From “She Wolf” (2009):

I’m starting to feel just a little abused like a coffee machine in an office
So I’m gonna go somewhere cozy to get me a lover
And tell you all about it

9- And of course, one last piece of advice if you are to befriend Shakira: DO NOT lend her any clothes… From “Gypsy” (2009):

‘Cause I’m a gypsy, are you coming with me?
I might steal your clothes and wear them if they fit me
