This morning’s 95th annual academy awards nominations were announced this morning and it had everyone on the edge of their seats!
Angela Bassett makes history as the first Marvel actor nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Wakanda Forever. Our girl Rihanna aka Bad Gal Rih Rih follows Angela’s lead with her first Oscar nomination for Best Original Song for Wakanda Forever’s “Lift Me Up.” Despite Blonde getting a Razzie Award for Worst Picture, Ana De Armas was nominated for Best Actress for her role as Marilyn Monroe in the movie “blonde”.
On the flip side, there are always gonna be some snubs! The Best Actress category had two major snubs—Viola Davis was overlooked for her role in “The Woman King” and Danielle Deadwyler for her role as Emmett Till’s mother in Till. Joining the snubs are Taylor Swift in the Best Original Song category for Where the Crawdads Sing, and Top Gun: Maverick’s Tom Cruise and Hustle’s Adam Sandler for Best Actor.
Sci-fi adventure film Everything Everywhere All at Once led the 2023 Oscars nominations with 11 nods with All Quiet on the Western Front and The Banshees of Inisherin following closely with nine nominations.
