THE TWO MEN WHO WERE ARRESTED AT STARBUCKS SETTLE THEIR CASE AND PAY IT FOWARDMay 6, 2018
The two men who were unfairly arrested at a Starbucks are now doing a Venti amount of good.
Donte Robinson and Rashon Nelson’s arrest at a Philadelphia Starbucks last month sparked controversy. The two black men were arrested while sitting at a Starbucks waiting for a friend. An employee called the cops on them because they did not order anything, and the cops proceeded to arrest them.
Now, the two men have settled their case with the city of Philadelphia. They each got $1 and a promise from the city to gift a $200,000 grant to Philadelphia high school students interested in developing entrepreneurial skills.
Donte Robinson commented on the settlement:
“We thought long and hard about it and we feel like this is the best way to see that change that we want to see. It’s not a right-now thing that’s good for right now, but I feel like we will see the true change over time.”
Kudos to Donte and Rashon for taking the high road!
