STEVE HARVEY SAYS HIS CONTROVERSIAL LEAKED MEMO WAS ‘CUTE’August 4, 2017
Steve Harvey is no stranger to controversy. Paging Miss Universe!
Back in May, the talk show host got into hot water after a memo telling his staff not to approach him was leaked to the press.
The 60-year-old is now speaking out about the controversial statement and although he doesn’t think it was a big deal, he also regrets it.
“Man, let me tell you something. That e-mail, I learned two things. One: I can’t write. And I should never write,” Harvey said during a press event on Thursday. “I’m not a mean-spirited guy at all. I’m a real congenial guy. I thought it was cute, but you all didn’t.”
The email was written just as his show relocated from Chicago to Los Angeles, in part because he wanted to change the nature of the program.
“The big difference here and the reason for moving to L.A. is I wanted to bring late-night TV to daytime. I think that’s what’s missing after doing daytime for five years. Takeaway is not what daytime TV needs anymore. People just need to laugh in the middle of the day; I’ve kind of been restricted from that over the past five years.”
The new format will debut when Steve premieres on September 5th.
