HONORING LANGSTON HUGHES TO KICK OFF BLACK HISTORY MONTH

February 1, 2018

February is Black History Month and Dish Nation is honoring a prominent African-Americans each day this month.

Since today would have been Langston Hughes‘ birthday, we are kicking it off by celebrating the renowned poet, novelist, playwright, activist and leader of the Harlem Renaissance.

Porsha paid homage to the literary great by reading Hughes’ acclaimed poem “Dreams.”

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

Make sure to watch the clip above to see Headkrack, Gary and Brat show off their original – and not-so original – poetic skills!
