HARRISON FORD UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR JET RUN-INFebruary 15, 2017
Uh-oh! Another close call with Harrison Ford in the cockpit.
This time the 74-year-old mistakenly landed his single-engine jet on a taxiway instead of the runway at John Wayne Airport in Orange County.
That may not sound like a huge deal, but would it change your mind if we told you his plane passed over a commerical airline that had 110 passengers?!
Harrison reportedly passed over an American Airlines jet and asked air traffic controllers, “Was that airliner meant to be underneath me?”
Sounds like a rhetorical question! Luckily, no one was injured and the American Airlines flight took off for Dallas without problems. The Orange County Register reports that small planes landing on taxiways are in violation of FAA safety rules.
While Ford is considered an incredibly experienced pilot in flying circles, he’s also had a lot of experience crashing!
Two years ago he put his divot in a Santa Monica golf course with a Wolrd War II plane. He walked away with just a broken ankle and pelvis. And in 1999, he crash-landed his helicopter. The force is with him!
The FAA needs a couple weeks to investigate his latest near miss, but Harrison could get a warning letter or possibly lose his pilot’s license.
