Supermodel Cara Delevingne is being eyed up by movie bosses for a stunning Bond girl role. And rather than just being arm candy, they want Cara to leave audiences “shaken and stirred” opposite 007.
MGM executives have been impressed by her performance in Luc Besson’s Valerian and The City of a Thousand Planets – which co-stars Rihanna – as a swashbuckling heroine.
Londoner Cara, who turns 25 next month, has caught the eye of MGM who are putting together their leading lady list for their next movie.
Bosses for the hit franchise believe Cara has the good looks for the part and is now an established actress having also appeared in movies such as Paper Planes, Suicide Squad and Pan.
A movie studio source in London said:
“Cara really is killing it at the moment. She had an amazing modelling early run, and her transition into acting has been astonishing. Her sizzling looks and ability to transform into many different characters on screen really gives her a unique edge. MGM mostly like to pick actresses just on the cusp of becoming big and helping that push, that is where she is at. Cara ticks many boxes. She appeals to a younger audience, has screen fighting experience and is English too. They also feel she could play a fierce spy working alongside the main protagonist who of course can play both sides. This role would not be arm candy, but a kick ass strong character.”
The source added: “Cara’s value really has exploded in a short time in Hollywood. Her first major lead in Paper Towns shocked many with its big revenues and gave her a boost from just another model pushing for films into a serious commodity. Since then she has just notched up more success and impressed many executives with her work ethic and easy going manner.”
London based production company Eon and executive producer Barbara Broccoli have to sign off on Cara, but she is understood to be a fan.
Currently, Daniel Craig is still to confirm if he is back for a fifth film after being offered a huge fee, reported to be $100m, to return as the super spy.
MGM wants to get the next film in movie theaters for fall 2018. If Craig doesn’t take the money then a new man will be thrown in the tuxedo to get the franchise back on track.
Names in the frame include Aidan Turner, Tom Hardy, Tom Hiddleston, James Norton and Henry Cavill.
As Dish Nation revealed Idris Elba is deemed “too old” for the role.
