Erik Scott SmithMay 1, 2014
DISH NATION’s Erik Scott Smith is part of The Heidi & Frank Show, a Los Angeles-based morning radio program that can be heard on KLOS-FM (95.5) and stars Heidi Hamilton and Frank Kramer, along with Sammi Marino.
Erik has been the producer for The Heidi & Frank Show since 2007 (he was discovered while busking – aka street performing — on the famed Santa Monica Pier). As he was given more and more responsibility on the show, he credits Heidi and Frank with helping him become a legitimate producer of radio content. Constantly teased for his love of killer whales, extremely embarrassing stories, and somewhat effeminate qualities, Erik takes it all in stride. He’s just “happy to be hanging with the cool kids.”
Erik was born in Murfreesboro, Tenn. and grew up in Seymour, Tenn. where he eventually attended Seymour High School. He briefly attended Walters State College in Sevierville, Tenn. His life changed forever when he saw some peers play in a rock band and he knew he had to learn how to play music. He picked up a guitar, which eventually led to the knowledge of music (he also plays bass and can get by on drums and keyboard!) and audio equipment – all tools that led him to radio. In his spare time, he writes and records his own music (he’s made three albums of his own), brews beer and loves movies and live music. He also enjoys rooting for his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys.
In addition to music and radio, Erik is a bonafide actor and ventriloquist. He appeared in the feature films “Cold Mountain” and “A Walk To Remember.”
Erik was born with a congenital heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot that required several surgeries as a child to repair. Having a special interest in the needs of children suffering from serious medical conditions, Erik strongly supports the charitable events of Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.
Erik currently resides in Winnetka, Calif. with his fiancé, Kylee, and their dog, Koda (a Shiba Inu) and three cats (JJ, Gizzy and Mama).
His birth date is July 18.
