This is a very sad and horrible situation.
Pop star Kesha has been trying to get out of her contact with Sony and music producer Dr. Luke for a while now and just received a huge set back. Kesha has said that Dr. Luke raped her when she was eighteen and then emotionally and physically abused her for years. Horrible.
The court unfortunately ruled that Kesha cannot get out of her contract with Sony. The problem is the fact that Kesha is required to make several more albums with the company and is in a binding contract. Even if she didn’t work with Dr. Luke they more than likely wouldn’t promote her album. It’s a terrible dilemma.
Fans came out to support Kesha during her court appearance and many held signs and chanted “Free Kesha.”
#FreeKesha has been trending on twitter as well and fans have been very vocal.
Chris Brown abused a woman & has a thriving career. Kesha was abused by her producer & is forced to make 6 more albums with him. #freekesha

#FreeKesha: how can something as serious as rape be overruled and treated so lightly? It’s no wonder sufferers are afraid to speak out.

So many female artists speak so much on feminism but when a fellow female artist needs support, everyone remains quiet. #FreeKesha

no one should have the right to decide if you were raped or not. no one should be forced to work with their rapist. #FreeKesha

I’ve never felt so disgusted in my life. How loud do we have to scream for people to hear that RAPE IS NOT A JOKE. #FreeKesha

She has the right to leave. Don’t keep her trapped with a rapist. #freekesha
