WHAT ARE YOUR CHANCES OF A WHITE CHRISTMAS?

December 16, 2017

Are you dreaming of a white Christmas this year? You may want to travel to get more favorable odds. As reported in the December 2017 issue of Popular Mechanics, the chance of a white Christmas is about 10% less than in 1942 when the popular Christmas tune was written due to Climate Change.

There are, however,  some major cities in the United States that have a better chance most. Like Minneapolis. It’s one of the country’s most northern and coldest cities, and according to Accuweather.com, it’s your best bet with a 77% chance of having at least 1 inch of snow on the ground come Christmas.

Or head toward The Rockies, and spend Christmas in Denver where there is a 50% chance of a white Christmas. If the mountains aren’t your thing, head towards the Great Lakes. Milwaukee, Detroit, and Buffalo all have a 47% chance of seeing the treetops glisten.

There are also some smaller cities with a 91-100% chance of a white Christmas every year according to ThoughtCo.com. Places such as Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Bozeman, Montana, Aspen, Colorado, Anchorage, Alaska, Marquette, Michigan, Winthrop, Washington, and even Mammoth Lakes in sunny California.
