Avril Lavigne Finally Speaks Following Lyme disease Diagnosis Last YearJune 29, 2015
It’s been a tiresome past year for singer/songwriter Avril Lavigne and her struggle with her recently discovered Lyme’s disease. But the difficulty with the disease wasn’t the treatment, it was finding out about it in the first place.
First misdiagnosed last year, Arvil spent months and months going to top doctors and specialists to figure out why she was chronically tired and bedridden.
“I was in Los Angeles, and it was literally the worst time of my life,” Lavigne said. “I was seeing every specialist, and literally like the top doctors … It was so stupid. They would pull up their computer and be like, ‘Chronic fatigue syndrome’ or ‘Why don’t you try to get out of bed, Avril, and just go play the piano?’ or ‘Are you depressed?'”
Avril opened up to Good Morning America‘s Jesse Palmer on Monday, breaking down in tears while recalling doctors’ misdiagnoses.
The singer is currently going through treatment and expects to make a full recovery. “I’m doing a lot better; seeing a lot of progress,” said Lavigne, whose new single, ”Fly,” benefits the Special Olympics.
