DENZEL, MERYL & MARY J. SCORE OSCAR NOMS: THE FULL LIST

The 2018 Oscar nominations have been announced and its full of newbies and several Hollywood mainstays.

The Shape of Water leads the pack scoring 13 nominations including Best Picture, Best Director Guillermo Del Toro, Best Actress for Sally Hawkins and Best Supporting Actress for Octavia Spencer.

Meryl Streep continues to add to her streak as the most nominated actor in history landing her 21st nom with a Best Actress nod for The Post. While Denzel Washington landed his 8th with his Best Actor nomination for Roman J. Israel, Esq.

The accolades also pile on for Mary J. Blige as she scored a Best Supporting Actress and Best Song nomination (“Mighty River”) for her work in Mudbound. The film’s cinematographer Rachel Morrison is also the first woman to ever get nominated for Best Cinematography.

The racially charged horror film Get Out scared up four nominations for Best Film, Director Jordan Peele, Best Actor Daniel Kaluuya and Screenplay. Peele is now the only third director to score a Picture, Director and Screenplay hat trick.

Lady Bird helmer Greta Gerwig also makes history as only the 5th woman to ever get a Best Director nomination. The Hurt Locker‘s Kathryn Bigelow remains the only woman to ever win a Best Director Oscar.

Other nominees include Daniel Day Lewis (Phantom Thread) and newcomer Timothee Chalamet (Call Me By Your Name) for Best Actor, Margot Robbie (I,Tonya) and Frances McDormand (Three Billboards Outside Ebbbing, Missouri) for Best Actress.

There were also a few snubs including Disaster Artist star James Franco, who is battling accusations of sexual misconduct, and Hollywood legend Tom Hanks, who came up empty handed for The Post.  Fan favorite Wonder Woman also got absolutely no love from the Academy.
