Dish Nation had the chance to chat with Orange is the New Black star, Dascha Polanco at the Audi Celebrates Emmys® Week 2014 Pre Emmys Party at Cecconis in Los Angeles. Audi, the official automotive partner and vehicle provider of the Television Academy, hosted a pre-Emmys celebration for the fifth consecutive year and continue its tradition of helping Hollywood honor television’s brightest stars and Dascha plays Dayanara Diaz on the hit Netflix show. We were thrilled to be there and to get some time for ourselves with Polanco.
She admitted that she doesn’t get a lot of fan mail from women in prisons, but our best guess is that the state isn’t providing Netflix to inmates.
When we asked Dascha how she would help rehabilitate inmates you will never guess what she said.
I am torn between wondering how that could possibly help rehab an inmate and considering committing a petty crime because my nails are in rough shape and mani/pedis are expensive these days! Also, how badass would I be if another mom at the bus stop complimented my manicure and I was all “Oh thanks, Joanne. Dascha Polanco did them when I was in the big house last week.” TOTALLY. That is how badass.
But I digress, as usual. We were talking about Orange is the New Black. This show is so freaking popular that the Michigan sheriff banned orange jumpsuits in jail because they are “fashion statement”.
Maybe I spoke too soon when I said jails don’t have Netflix. Remind me to commit that petty crime in Michigan. I am way behind on Dexter.
